The History
Established in 2011 by Matt Hartman in St. Louis, MO, Spoked Events was born out of a desire to address a community need. Recognizing a thriving grassroots cycling community seeking connections beyond conventional bike races, the company was founded to provide a unique platform for engagement.
It all started with a single late-night alley cat race, swiftly evolving into a comprehensive race series. In under two years, Spoked Events actively participated in major events like The Gateway Cup, Tulsa Tough, and Cross Vegas, among others.
As the national presence expanded, the company concurrently embraced a renewed emphasis on community growth. This involved introducing a variety of small to mid-sized events, including weekly rides, educational cycling events, tours, guided overnight bike-packing and canoeing trips, and Sunday group rides leading to the riverfront for the delightful experience of brewing camp coffee.
In 2020, Hartman was an integral part of the launch of Missouri’s NICA program. Donating years of mountain bike production experience to help get “more kids on bikes.”
The student athletes that participate in NICA events will hopefully create a life long passion for cycling and one day, they will be lining up at one of our USA Cycling events! More kids on bikes!
Constantly seeking growth and new ventures, Spoked Events has joined forces with Medalist Sports to extend its services to larger clients throughout North America and Canada.

Having amassed over a decade of experience in the cycling industry, Matt has navigated every facet – from retail sales to managing race teams and owning his own shop.
Throughout, his focus has been consistently directed towards infusing a more organic perspective into established industry trends.
